About the “Foster Parent Support Company System”
Akita Prefecture opened TOMONY in October 2025 as a core institution for foster care support. As a child welfare institution providing consultation and assistance to foster parents (including prospective foster parents) and children raised in foster homes, TOMONY supports training, practical experience, and applications for prospective foster parents. It aims to build a system where foster families are supported by the community without being isolated. The “Foster Parent Support Company” system, launched as part of efforts to raise awareness of the foster care system, is a system in which neighboring companies cooperate in various ways to support foster families and promote the system, helping the community to support children and foster families who require “social care”. At the press conference, 9 of the 21 companies and organizations registered as Foster Parent Support Companies, including PI, and other related parties attended. Explanations of each company's support details and introductions to the voices of foster parents regarding the support companies were shared.

Comment from Haruna Sato, Head of Akita BPO Nikaho Campus
“PI operates five BPO centers in Akita Prefecture, and women account for approximately 70% of the employees supporting our service provision. We are continuing our activities to revitalize the local community while working to create a comfortable working environment tailored to diverse lifestyles. The PI Group aims to be a 'company that can prosper together with society and local communities by resolving social issues,' and we believe that supporting the future of children, who will bear the next generation of the region, is an important responsibility. When we were exploring activities to contribute to the local community as the Akita BPO Nikaho Campus, we heard about the establishment of TOMONY. Empathizing with the desire to support foster families as an entire community, we registered as the first support company. What we consider most important is not only providing direct support as a company but also making it widely known that there are many children in Akita Prefecture who require social care due to various circumstances, and that there are diverse forms of foster care support other than adoption. First, we held a briefing session on the foster care system for employees at our Akita BPO Nikaho Campus. Moving forward, we hope that correct information and the circle of support will spread to our employees' families, friends, and eventually the entire Akita Prefecture.”
Future Outlook
The PI Group aims to become an enterprise that contributes to society by providing solutions to social issues and enabling both society and the local community to flourish. Moving forward, we will continue to collaborate with the region and promote activities aimed at realizing a sustainable society where everyone can grow authentically and support each other.
